Colombia Urrao Chiroso ++

Light Roast - Limited Roast

COLOMBIA

More Antioquía Chiroso? Yes, please! This particular lot has a beautifully soft profile, with a pastry or pie-like sweetness to it that perfectly complements the red grape, blackberry, peach, lime, and orange notes. We highly recommend this one via percolation methods such as V60 - or insert your favorite pourover brewer - as the flavors really pop when brewed this way.

Why We Love This Roast

Chiroso is the Antioquían equivalent of Pink Bourbon for Huila. Both are Ethiopian landrace varieties that have made their way to Colombia and yield exceptional cup quality. Pink Bourbon has become more popular than Chiroso because Huila historically has been more well-known for producing higher quality coffee, whereas Antioquía historically has been more known for simply producing a high volume of coffee. The proliferation of Chiroso is changing that though!

This particular “lot” is composed of many high-scoring lots from smallholders’ farms that are too small to be separated on their own, so The Coffee Quest put them together in the same way that the “Huila Las Perlitas” or “Nariño Las Perlitas” that we’ve featured before were put together. The results in the cup speak for themselves: juicy red grape, blackberry or even a hint of pomegranate, peach, lime, plus hints of orange and brown sugar; it’s simply delightful.
